I was delighted to welcome the Right Honourable Margaret Hodge, who is shown here visiting the Stage Design Workshop at Southborough Primary School. It is sponsored by Bromley MyTime & The Moving On To Secondary School Project.
Year 6 Pupils, at the end of their time at Primary School, are producing the play: The Evacuees by Chris Adams & Michael Sullivan. Those who are not actors are divided into two groups- one to design and create backdrops and props with me: Kim Parker, the second focusing on costume Design with Artist Maria Scialdone.
They have carefully considered the subject in class from a historical point of view, this extension has given the children the opportunity to develop their ideas through the different aspects of Stage Production and enhanced the quality and professionalism of the performance. |  |

Stage Design Group
The pupils in the 'Stage Design Group' having interpreted and designed and painted the backdrops and props, were also responsible for changing the scenery five times during the performance.
The stage management was coordinated by Kim Parker and Lisa Porter, a student, who was involved throughout the entire design and production process and was an invaluable asset and innovative contributor to the project.
